One Day At a Time
One day at a time is a basic tool, both for recovery and for spiritual development. Often considered only a coping tool for those in the midst of a major change (coping with loss of a loved one or giving up alcohol - also the loss of a loved one), One Day At a Time also has use as we pursue spiritual development.
Just as an alcoholic or addict needs to focus on "just today" and not going back to the old ways, those of us seeking spiritual development need to think about how we are doing today and even right now. Am I aware - on some level - of God's gifts to me today? Taking a minute to make a gratitude list or say a prayer may help rebuild my awareness and turn a day from "rotten" to "wonderful"
